LOCATION

MOCAH Village will be located at 3617 Baer, on a 36-acre tract of land, on the east side of downtown Houston, near the intersection of Hwy 59N and I-10E. MOCAH Village is an environmental redevelopment project and reclamation of the former TESCO/MDI Superfund site OU 1. The TESCO/MDI Superfund site has been contaminated by decades of heavy petrochemical refining industries which have left the land contaminated with heavy metals and other spent catalyst materials. In 1998 approximately 4,000 barrels of spent catalyst materials were removed from the site. Currently, the TESCO/MDI site is in final stages of site assessment and will be entering the initial phases of remediation. The remediation of the land will be completed by 2nd quarter 2006.

Future plans call to transform the entire area into an arts and cultural destination. Current revitalization plans for the immediate area include:

Revitalization to the area presents MOCAH and our partners with a unique opportunity to play an integral role in the transformation of this once neglected and disenfranchised neighborhood into a culturally rich and thriving artistic community.
