CURRENT PROGRAMS
Art Angels Healing Arts Program: AAHA is a health based outreach program of MOCAH. AAHA
uses art as a tool to promote individual and social health awareness to support groups, healthcare facilities and schools. Healing arts is a creative approach to the therapeutic process where verbal/nonverbal communications takes place through various art techniques and practices that encourage self-awareness and identity. AAHA encourages participants to use multidisciplinary activities such as theater, dance, music, visual art, and creative writing to explore creativity and the healing process. In modern society the gap between art and healing is slowly being closed through the efforts of art-in-medicine or healing art programs throughout the world. AAHA is a healing arts program that seeks to bring these two disciplines together.

MOCAH Public Art Campaign (MPAC): MPAC mission is to create public art that enhances cultural awareness, stimulates community development, and establishes partnerships
between youth, artists, communities, schools and businesses. All of our projects involve mentoring relationships between professional artists and students to produce community based public art.
|
MOCAH Public Art Camp: Each Saturday, from 9am-12p, professional artists work with youth in designing and producing murals and other public artworks that become strategically placed in Houston’s most historic and underserved communities. By joining students with professional artists we are able to reinforce the impact and value that their work has on the community while providing the youth with hands on community development experience. |
|
MOCAH Public Art Contest: Designed to support talented and aspiring young artists in Houston area high schools, the MOCAH Public Art Contest invites high school students to submit proposals and designs for various public art competitions that MOCAH hosts throughout the year.
