The Edison Mural Project is a 8’x 10’ x 2’ 6”” mosaic mural, that will be used as a mosaic façade on the outside of the new Amegy Bank inside of the school cafeteria. The purpose of the art project is to provide a creative background and presence in the school’s new bank. The bank will provide the students with an opportunity to learn how to save and manage their money. The bank will accompany the school’s new entrepreneurship class, to connect the students with business commerce in their community. It is important that the students have a sense of ownership with their branch of Amegy Bank, as to encourage both the development of financial awareness and artistic expression. The mural theme consists of handmade ceramics and commercial tile that reflect U.S. currency and coins. The students came up with the idea to incorporate the pictures of money into the mural. The dollar bills and coins represent the foundation of monetary value in our society and the mural surrounds the “Customer Service” window, of the bank.. The name of the Amegy Bank is also represented across the top of the mural.
