Edison Middle School SPARK Park Mosaic Mural is another public art project of the Museum Of Cultural Arts, Houston (MOCAH), through the ArtworkZ Public Art & Design Program.

The purpose of the project is to create permanent public mural that supports the efforts of Edison Middle School to create a public park that can be enjoyed by students and the community alike. The mural project will provide students from Edison with hands-on opportunities to create a ceramic tile mosaic mural that will have a permanent home in the school’s new SPARK Park. As well, this project provides the students an opportunity to work directly with two professional artists, Reginald Adams and Emily Rensink that specialize in designing and developing innovative and socially conscience public art projects.

Approximately 15 students from Edison are working with Adams and Rensick to research and document various aspects of the Magnolia/East End community. The historical legacy and current revitalization of the area are central components to the visuals depicted in the mural. The final work will be a visual representation of the people, places and events that have forged the East End into the culturally rich community that it is today.
